Effect of ink viscosity on printing

- Apr 25, 2019-

The most direct effect of the increase in ink viscosity is the ink flow in the pipeline, which ink break phenomenon. The change of viscosity indirectly affects the surface tension of the ink. The surface tension of the liquid is the attraction between the molecules inside the liquid to the molecules on the surface of the liquid. When the viscosity increases, the anti-shear force between the molecules and the molecules increases, which also indirectly affects the surface tension of the liquid. The moment the ink drops leave the tip, if the tension is too high, the ink drops will not spray out, there will be ink droplets on the surface of the nozzle, resulting in non-particle plugging phenomenon. Another characteristic of the composite solution is that at low temperature, the solubility of the composite solution is relatively low, often some solute precipitation phenomenon. If the ink appears out of the phenomenon, out of the material will also cause ink sac, ink block.

The most direct factor is the temperature, the temperature is too low also affects the adhesion between the ink and the medium. Increasing the indoor temperature is important for the stability of the ink in the printing process. The same ink, lower temperature, viscosity will become larger, viscosity is too large, in high-speed printing is prone to "broken line". Many photo machine users will think that is the nozzle blocked, but once cleaned, immediately normal, not long, and will be repeated, some customers will think that is the ink quality problem.

The second problem is ink absorption and drying. The temperature is too low, not only is not conducive to the ink spray medium coating absorption, but also is not conducive to the ink solvent volatilization. Cause "heap ink" phenomenon. So the vast number of users in cold weather use when trying to maintain a suitable temperature, is conducive to the normal work of the photo machine.

Under the influence of temperature, the thinness of ink will change, which is a physical phenomenon, but the change is the form, the nature is not changed. Ink thickening, viscosity also increases, but it is recommended not to use thinner or ink oil into the ink for blending, changing its consistency. Because when users use these deployment of ink additives, you do not know how much ink can accommodate all kinds of additives, easy to exceed the amount, will affect the performance of ink, affect the quality of printing.
