10 questions about print head before purchasing UV printer

1. Which brand and model of printhead does the printer use?


When you ask about the print head, most vendors will usually tell you the brand of the nozzle, rather than the detailed model of the print head.


For example, Ricoh spray heads include Ricoh G5 spray heads and the latest generation of Ricoh G6 spray heads. Among them, Ricoh gen5 spray heads are water and oil-based, long and short, two and four channels.


2. Is this print head designed for solvent ink or UV ink?


Some sprinklers were not originally made to print UV ink.

Take the Epson nozzle as an example. At that time, Epson did not produce UV curing printers. Epson only produced water-based and solvent based printers for photo printers and works of art. This does not mean that they cannot spray UV curable ink, which only means that the nozzle may need special ink.



3. How many other printers use the same print head? Do they have any questions?


Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Kyocera, Sal and starlight are all piezoelectric printing heads. Compared with Epson piezo printheads, these are industrial strength piezo printheads.



4. How many nozzles are there in each print head?


This can help you understand the speed or speed of the printer.



5. What is the total number of printer nozzles?


The spray head has a single color spray head with only one color, and a multi-color spray head with multiple colors.


Take Liguang gen5 nozzle as an example. It has two channels and four channels. When it is used on the machine, one nozzle can print only one color, or one nozzle can print two colors (both channels and four channels can be used), and one nozzle can print four colors (four channels nozzle).



6. How many printheads are there for each color?


This will tell you more about how slow or fast your printer is inking.



7. How much leather is the ink drop of the nozzle? Is there a variable drop capacity?


The smaller the droplet, the better the printing quality. However, a smaller drop size reduces the speed of the print head system. Similarly, the print head with larger ink drop size can not provide the same print quality, but the print speed is often better.



8. Is there a special white ink or light oil nozzle? Are they the same model as the CMYK nozzle?


Because the use of larger nozzles can make white ink better, some printers only have white ink "white ink drop size advantage.". Other printers use the same head for any and all colors. Treating varnish is not as easy as treating ink. On a comparable basis, make sure your white ink has a recycling system (otherwise white particles will settle and plug the nozzle).



9. What is the most common cause of print head failure?


Most of the failures are really user errors, and the most common cause is head impact.



10. What is the printing height of the nozzle? Can the nozzle impact be avoided?


Impact is the most common cause of premature nozzle damage (improper media loading can lead to bending, media rubbing against vulnerable nozzle plates, or not passing through the printer properly). A head impact may damage only a few nozzles or the entire nozzle. Another reason is continuous flushing, which can damage the nozzle system.
